Buy of the year!
Wahey people, I managed to buy a key date 1888 10 Guilders piece (mint state) for 50 ($ 62) below the official price. It's round, it's shiny and its gold. And it's rare too!
Do you people ever had such 'steals of the century'? These kind of stories are the best, like finding a load of cash in a desk you buy from a junkyard. |
Re: Buy of the year!
Nope. Never happens to me. If anything, I have the opposite kind of luck. In fact, I might have single-handedly doomed the silver bull the moment I bought my first ounce. :frown:
Congrats on your find! |

Yeah, a common year 10 guilder piece changes hands for about the prices you mentioned (in The Netherlands its sometimes $ 110-105 if you know the right seller) but 1888 is a key date year, only 35,000 were minted, and many were destroyed during WW2, to finance the German warmachine. So this one cost me $410, while the official retail price (according to the so called `blue book of Dutch coins') is $475 or plus minus 375 euros. I'd call that a bargain!
